Dist-upgrading to (k)ubuntu 14.04
Well, the whole experience was a disaster, but eventually.. everything seem ok...
Update hangs on mdadm on Found kernel:
Found kernel: /boot/vmlinuz-3.13.0-12-generic
Found kernel: /boot/vmlinuz-3.11.0-17-generic
Found kernel: /boot/vmlinuz-3.11.0-15-generic
Found kernel: /boot/memtest86+.bin
kill mdadm.postinit - if you are lucky the upgrade will continue
kill mdadm.postinit and then sudo dpkg --configure -a to try to finish the upgrade
sudo echo ``mdadm hold'' | dpkg --set-selections and then sudo dpkg --configure -a to finish the upgrade
kill the update-grub process and when the upgrade finishes, do a manual update-grub
If all the above fail, go buy a Mac.
After the "successful" installation the CPU usage is over 80% all the time. This is because the "baloo" file indexer is running filling the free space of your disk! However, you cannot disable it directly because:
There is no explicit “Enable/Disable” button any more. We would like to promote the use of searching and feel that Baloo should never get in the users way. However, we are smart about it and IF you add your HOME directory to the list of “excluded folders”, Baloo will switch itself off since it no longer has anything to index.
