“It is a wonderful thing to get married young and become a father. I used to think that I’d get married by mid-30’s and have children. But now I think I can wait. I’m no longer in a hurry to get married. I would like to first get to know the partner and build a trusting relationship before making the commitment.”-----I find it highly interesting that he doesn't say "first get to know the woman/my future wife/girlfriend" but "the PARTNER". Ahem...How delightfully ambiguous there Ben ;)
Yes! I was just discussing that with someone last night! It is *very* strange, isn’t it? And it’s not the first time he’s used that weird sort of distancing language when he’s talking about wife/family stuff. I’ll have to do a post on that sometime too. TWIL/TWIPT and ‘the lifeform’ spring to mind already.
Edited to add: As I seem to have completely failed to address the point the nonny was making here the first time around, yes, let me agree that that’s a very gender non-specific word to use if you just mean girlfriend/fiancee/wife, since those spring much more readily to mind when talking about a female love interest.
