And the distant prince is here! This took, a while. I’ve been in a slump lately. But I did do some minor updates to him, like, idk, actually putting him in the distance, what was past me thinking. This is probably the last one for the rebooted gods of nightvale series, this is where I finished last time. I might do the beagle once I get there on my relisten/if I have the motivation, but right now I’m trying really hard to get back in the groove of writing my fic so maybe later.
So Huntokar mentioned that, in her post-incident truce with the other gods, she gave them a few of their own versions of Night Vale to play around with. Several fans have noted that The Smiling God isn't mentioned at all in this episode. What if Desert Bluffs is a version of Night Vale that was given to The Distant Prince? He's certainly cruel and sadistic enough, and Huntokar confirms that his harbingers are life forms shaped and tortured by him. And we also know from this episode that the gods can touch/interact with the great glowing coils of the universe (she mentions The Woman From Italy doing so). Just like The Smiling God did. I definitely think Desert Bluffs is the unfortunate victim of The Distant Prince's reign.
Welcome to Night Vale: Ash Beach: Reaction (Spoilers)
What was left behind becomes what never was.
So now we have a clearer picture on what Huntokar is. Simone Rigadeau seems to have some intel regarding Huntokar and whatever it is has something to do with 1983. While giving people false memories seems inconvenient it doesn’t seem like anything too bad on its own. Of course where strange ephemeral beings tread, that only serves to prep the town for whatever new big thing is coming its way.
It seems like Josie doesn’t have very long in this world. I guess Cecil may have felt bad about denying angels for so long since they’re Josie’s friends. Now he is proclaiming the angels’ existence and that he has been aware of them. There may be a punishment for him for this act of rebellion or maybe Carlos will be threatened in an effort to keep Cecil in line.
Hadassa and her team may not be seen but as Cecil stated, it’s what we don’t see that be more terrifying than what’s in front of us. Whoever said “ignorance is bliss” obviously never had spiders in their home.
