“So, did you like the candy I got you for Easter? I made most of it myself.” That might explain how one of the eggs was filled with hot sauce.

what i love each & every time i ask this is how diverse answers are. especially since it is usually very centric to a person’s muse what sort of characters they are looking for

If he hadn’t been looking for it then he might have missed the cave entrance. The map does a poor job of marking its location and its by sheer coincidence that he finds it at all. Choosing an obscure side tunnel is the reason for the frustrating difficulty, but it’s a precaution he takes to guarantee his solitude while the many tourists who’ve flocked to these caves will be on the other side of the mountain, clambering through the main entrance.
At once he’s swallowed by the hungry darkness the moment he steps within and pauses at the threshold between a world of light and the one before him, waiting for his eyes to readjust to the dark. He places one hand against the rock wall for guidance, surprised by how smooth it felt beneath his palm. It’s likely to be the first of many if the stories of this place are to be believed. Ask any of the locals and they’ll have some kind of ridiculous tale heard second hand about strange encounters here and the creatures that lurked in the shadows.
So far he comes across nothing but more rock as he makes his way further into the underground labyrinth. The deeper he journeys down the brighter it becomes and soon he understands why when he comes across the first crystalline formation, the very thing that’s given this cave its name. Cave of Mirrors. Such an obvious and banal name, but very apt. His own reflection stares at him from the sheet of crystal, only slightly distorted by an imperfect surface.
His attention is ripped away from his own face when he hears the faint but unmistakable sound of footsteps. An explorer? A tourist? From a corner of the mirror he spots the sudden movement as a figure turns a corner. His hand is instantly in his coat pocket, fingers curled around the smooth surface of a pokeball as he turns, calm and composed.
Even in the dim light he makes out the odd hair and the sharp cheekbones and is struck by a sudden familiarity. The man’s features are so distinct that he’s certain that he should know him. Someone he might not have met personally, but seen his pictures enough times that it shouldn’t have been this difficult to put a name to the face.
Then it hits him and his grip around the pokeball tightens even further.
“I heard you were dead. Evidently the reports of your death have been greatly exaggerated.” There’s dark amusement shining in his eyes, but his mouth is pressed together into a thin smile. “I wonder what the great Cyrus of Team Galactic is doing so far away from home? And here of all places when last I heard your people were mewling for you like children back in Sinnoh. Perhaps you were searching for something…?”

For a person who claimed not to travel too much Yuri really happened to get out of Hoenn pretty often, though lately it only ever seemed to be for work. One of the senior scientists at the Space Centre had talked about wanting to do a bit of research on the meteorites dotting Veilstone’s southern half --- she hadn’t been particularly thrilled when he’d swooped in and demanded to go in her stead, especially when she was a meteoriticist and he an astrophysicist, but with how swiftly he’d gotten his work done and with how much work she still had left to finish she really hadn’t been in much of a position to counter his offer with an argument. He earned the trip.
When he’d come he’d expected buildings built around carved stone atop the sudden sharp drop-off cliffs that Veilstone seemed to be known for, and architecturally stout buildings built on top of high mounted hills. What he hadn’t expected was some glass and concrete behemoth of a construction dominating the northeastern quarter of the city skyline. He’d come for work and not to scout out the local architecture, sure, but that wouldn’t prevent him from oogling the golden arch stretching over the building or the large yellow G insignia embellished across the face of the wall above the front doors. It was, all in all, almost garishly clashing with the rest of the town.
"And on the tallest point in the town, too... Is it a city centre??”
