Who: Open / @districtstarters​ Where: The National Mall When:  Sunday July 4, just before 9 pm

After making sure that Dani was outfitted in ear-protecting headphones, she'd dragged her toddler down to the Mall for tonight's fireworks display. She was sure the little girl would love it, and she'd heard DC's fireworks were some of the best in the country. They managed to find a spot shortly before dusk, and were now sitting on their picnic blanket waiting for the show to start.

Daphne glanced down at her phone to check the time. But she got distracted reading a text from her mother-in-law. When she glanced back up, she saw Dani was attempting to make a break for it. Running after her daughter, she caught her just as Dani collided with someone. "I am so sorry" she said, her face turning red with embarrassment. "Are you okay?" Dani was small, so she was hopeful the toddler hadn't hurt the other person.

Who: Open / @districtstarters​ Where: Somewhere in Deanwood When: Wednesday June 30, shortly after dark

Briar was standing on the sidewalk across the street from a seedy little motel. She’d been following a senator all evening and was now in the process of taking pictures of him heading into the motel to meet his mistress. For all their money and power, these people always dragged their affair partners to the cheapest and dirtiest motels in the metropolitan area. As she was holding her camera to her face, she saw something in her peripheral vision. "I'm working here" she said without taking her face away from the camera. "So I'd advise not stepping in front of me." Not unless they wanted to end up part of what was probably going to be rather nasty divorce proceedings.
