So I just met with my committee after passing in my Div II Portfolio almost 2 weeks ago and my final meeting is on the 8th.  They totally tore me to shit, basically said that I need to include more things so they can get a better idea of my progress through the semester. Basically told me I need to come up with like "Questions I was asking myself throughout my Div II" which is just NOT how I work. I study things I'm interested in, and I don't really ask questions. I mean, I ask questions in the sense that, when I don't understand something - I try to understand it. But I'm not walking around philosophizing academic career every damn month. And I would literally be MAKING THIS SHIT UP if I added it to my retrospective. I was also told to include only the papers/pieces which felt relevant to my growth during Div II and that only turned out to be like 5 papers (and would include my two HUGE finals from this semester, but HEY I HAVEN'T FINISHED THIS SEMESTER YET) and now I'm being told I need to include more when OBVIOUSLY I didnt include anything else because it's NOT FUCKING RELEVANT (or relevant but not important to my "growth" or just redundant) Especially when TWO of my classes were heavily visually based. Like WHAT MORE DO YOU FUCKING WANT? 10 more psych papers you DON'T FUCKING UNDERSTAND?  Also, WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME YOU NEEDED ALL THIS SHIT hmmm TWO WEEKS AGO. Now I'm at the peak of my HOLY SHIT I NEED TO FINISH MY FINALS and one of you wants all these revisions by TOMORROW? Are you fucking KIDDING ME?

And one of you has the fucking BALLS to say to me while I'm leaving "Are you almost done your finals"  NOT REMOTELY, YOU PIECE OF SHIT.

Huh.

So I think I figured out what I'm doing for my Div II? At least, in much more defined terms than it was before. And I'm kind of shocked at the direction it's taking. I think I'm going to do a "Philosophy of Social Science" Div II

I have no actual experience with straight-up philosophy, and I'm still super wary. It just sort of conjures up images of pretentious privilege-blind self-absorbed rich white guys talking about how smart they are? But I've been doing some work with the social sciences, like anthropology (and more specifically, ethnography). I've been consistently really interested in, good at, and productive with, what has turned out to be methodological applications of philosophy.

So I need to take a straight philosophy course or two to see what's up, but I think I want to use philosophy and the methodologies of social sciences to inform each other and create new more nuanced methodologies, and influence philosophical thought in turn.

Just found a book that's going to make wrapping up my Div II so much easier.
