It had been a long day.
A long fucking day, and that was without the divert to civilian airspace to outrun a blizzard and a hard landing Maverick was still feeling in his spine. A long day without having to wait twenty minutes for a payphone to open up or the prospect of trying to trudge to the nearest hotel on foot, considering the line for taxis Maverick could see wrapping around the bend and coming back inside the terminal.
A long day, and it still wasn’t even over.
