Hound screaming awake from a nightmare
Hound trying to jump out of bed only to hit it's head on the kennel bars
The pain letting hound ground itself as it remembers where it is
Hound curling into a ball letting out quiet sobs
The lights blinding the hound a few moments later as Handler races in
Handler leaning down and getting as close to eye level with hound
Hound slowly looking up and nodding, big tears falling from its face
"the usual one or new one?"
Hound slowly looks down recalling the painful dream and whispering just loud enough for Handler to hear
"T-the one w-where you, um, you are killed and I have to be alone again..."
Handler let's out a sigh before unlocking the kennel door causing the hound to flinch
"Sh sh sh, it's okay, my pet. Will this help?"
Handler places their leather jacket at the entrance of the kennel
Hound quickly nods before slowly and gently grabbing the jacket and clutching it like it's life depends on it (it does)
"That's my good hound. Try and get back to sleep, I need your full attention for the briefing today."
"Yes Handler, of course. Thank you."
Handler simply smiles before slowly standing up and making their way to the door entrance
Handler dims the lights, enough that the hound can still see their surroundings and still fall asleep
Handler walks back to their luxurious bed, getting nice and curled up
Handler quickly reaches over and grabs the hounds muzzle, bringing it close to their chest and holding it
Handler and hound, each falling back to sleep with the others comfort item
