there’s little time for relief once the warlock of vecna is defeated. moments before, he had wrapped a biting cold hand around vex’s forearm. she had felt the poison beginning to pump through her veins as her body failed to resist the spell. this isn’t her first time being poisoned, though, so she had managed to grit her teeth and push through the discomfort during the remainder of the fight. with the warlock now dead, she begins to call out, ‘ pike, i -- ’ but is cut short when the discomfort increases a hundredfold. it suddenly seems as though she’s had a fever for days and it is at its peak. her brain feels like it’s been enveloped in fog as it begins to pound. ‘ i don’t - ’ a thought uncompleted. she presses her fingers to her temples that are damp with sweat. is that because of the fight or this onset of illness ? she’ll never know. her body aches, knees feeling particularly weak. it’d probably feel really good to sit on the stonework right now. so vex does. she feels like she is teetering from side to side, even while sitting solidly on the ground. she presses her hands onto the ground in attempt to abate that feeling, dirt and small stones scraping across her hands -- though not to the point of harm. she can’t focus on what they’ve done, what they’re trying to do, or where they are. all she knows is that she feels like shit.
