This was it, only one soul remained before he could finally rest in peace. Hans thought his fate of being a reaper after death was rather comical, and likely the result of his not-so-pure of a life he led. That morning he had received the name of the person he'd be reaping. Like all the others, you didn't really know, unless you asked or figured it out for yourself, who that person was. You just had to know, and reap their soul before they die. However, this name was familiar to him. Divine, he remembered, was the woman from SHIELD who worked under him at HYDRA.
The catch was, you didn't look like yourself in the human world. You reaped the souls of those who died of something traumatic. You reaped their souls so their souls were not scarred. What was going to happen to Divine that he would need to reap her soul?
Hans waited at the area listed on his note, half an hour before the time of death, and waited for her to show up. He was in the U-Bahn station, sitting on a bench along, searching through all the faces. He did not see her, but he noticed HYDRA soldiers standing around. They seemed to be on guard for something. Hans looked up at the stairs, and he noticed the familiar woman descending down them. She was wearing sunglasses, but he'd recognize her face, even with the sunglasses masking her eyes.
For a moment, he did not acknowledge Divine as she stood alone by one of the pillars. Hans glanced around, and saw one of the gremlin-like gravelings that caused the accidents and mishaps. The living could not see them, although sometimes they were the thing you caught at the corner of your eye and explained away as a trick of the mind. Hans watched as the HYDRA guards talked among themselves, pointing in her direction. They must have caught on to Divine being from SHIELD some time after Hans died. They wanted to kill her. But that wasn't going to be how she died.
Hans glanced down at his watch. Three more minutes. He stood and walked over to Divine, his hands in his pockets. He hid his watch from view. "Fräulein, do you have the time?" he asked her. She glanced over at him, a bit nervous, but checked the time on her phone. "Quarter to five," she answered. Hans touched her arm and nodded. "Thanks," he said. As his touched her arm, he took her soul.
Within the next two minutes, the guards ran towards her, their guns aiming at her. She jumped, cursing under her breath that they had noticed her. She turned to face the HYDRA guards, and pulled out a pistol of her own. "Get away from me!!" she yelled. Hans glanced back up and noticed the graveling once again. It shook a pipe above them, which was already loose and ready to fall. It shook it until it came apart, and fell to the ground. It did not hit Divine, but it startled her into thinking it was a gun shot. She jumped back too far, and fell into the tracks.
The U-Bahn sped through, hitting her and killing her immediately.
Divine's soul stood by Hans, and finally she could see him in her true form.
"Hans?" she asked. "Wha--you were dead!"
"I am. And... so are you." He replied, pointing to the people who rushed over to see how bad the damage was.
"What?" She couldn't believe it.
"But you're my last reaping... we will both go to that other place." Hans grinned, and watched as a light in the distance beckoned for the both of them.
