There are two circumstances that I imagine you would meet Chance in the Forsaken realm: 1. You knew him before, and 2. You met him in there.
In the first instance, he was already there when you were caught by the Spectre. Truthfully, you guys instantly clicked. He thought you were attractive, you thought he was cute… although you were a bit distracted by the fact an evil entity had just stolen you into another world.
You fall fast, wind whipping your face, through the blackest of voids, tipping end over end in a dizzying display. Everything hurts.
Eventually you splat unceremoniously into panelled wood flooring. The crash aggravates your already unbearable headache, and the rest of your limbs are not too happy either.
Somewhere far off, you hear footsteps approaching. Somebody kneels down next to you, carefully wrapping an arm around your body and pulling you to your knees. You look up.
A face obscured by glossy shades greets you. His grin momentarily distracts you from all your pain; you feel a bit lighter, warmer inside. He slightly tips his striped fedora to you with his free hand.
“Name’s Chance. I know you’ve just been through a lot, we’re gonna get you sorted out, yeah?” He says reassuringly.
Yeah. That does sound nice.
In the second instance, he was also there before you, but not by a long time. He was halfway through learning how everything worked when you showed up. Knowing there was no escape, at least you had each other. It did make him feel awful when he couldn’t protect you, though. At that time he didn’t know all of the killers strategies and move sets yet, so sometimes he couldn’t save you and hates himself for it.
On the topic of rounds, Chance always plays the hero, and on top of that makes it look casual and cool. He’ll spin out of nowhere with his flintlock aimed, blasting at the killer to let you get away. He will even throw himself in the way, taking the killers attention and running off with them. Afterwards if you ask him about it he’ll swear he just had a “good feeling” about his tactic, but truthfully he didn’t want to see you hurt.
Loves it if you give him flattery when he protects you. Of course, he just saved your life, so obviously you are thankful. He plays it off nonchalantly. As if he would’ve done this for any of the other survivors. Although, calling him nicknames like “my hero” makes it harder for him to play it off coolly, and he gets flustered.
No matter what your roll is, he will be by your side. Doesn’t matter if it’s survivalist, support or sentinel.
——If you’re a survivalist, Chance will hang about with you while you’re doing a generator. He’s not good with the gens at all and leaves that to you. Mainly he’s just flipping his coin, trying to get lucky with his flintlock, but his presence is comforting.
—— If you’re a support, the two of you work together as a duo to hinder the killer. He runs out there wildly, shooting, dodging and diving, then comes back to you soon you can patch him up and do it all again.
—— If you’re a sentinel, you guys will still work together, but it’s harder to convince him that you can handle yourself. He’ll shoot the killer before you go in for your stun, just so you don’t have to put yourself in danger. While sometimes this has been helpful, other times it’s just been poor communication between you guys. He’s trying to work through it, but considering the situation it’s quite hard.
Mainly he used the same personal strategy regardless of which killer it is, unless it’s Mafioso.
Chance panics, because unlike the other killers - who believe his only flaw is overconfidence - Mafioso knows his true weakness. That he will try to protect you at any cost. Unfortunately Chance doesn’t really know how to counter this, so he refuses to let you leave his sight. He plays it cool, just like he does with everything, but you can see the mask slipping. Constantly double, triple checking over his shoulder. Loading his flintlock to the brim with gunpowder so it stuns for longer, at the risk it hurts more if it explodes. As long as you are safe, it doesn’t matter about him.
When any round finally ends, he breaths a sigh of relief. You do too.
Other survivors like to sit on the sofas in the main lodge and go through what they’ve just experienced, Chance included. Misery loves company. He invites you to join and sit next to him. Once you guys had a close enough relationship, he would put his arm round you. Continuing to chat happily away with the others, he lets you feel relaxed and properly safe for the first time in a while.
“Next time we must be more careful about trying to fight Slasher in such an open area,” Guest 1337 said. “He’s faster than all of us in an outright sprint, but maybe somewhere with more obstacles we could get the advantage.”
The small group of survivors huddled together on the green sofas by the fire, featuring you and Chance next to each other, hummed and nodded in agreement.
“Honestly, yeah, gonna have to second that. There’s no way I can hit him with my sword in such an open area. What are thoughts on… somewhere like the graveyard?” Shedletsky asked the crowd.
As the rest of the group delved into discussion, Chance shifts almost imperceptibly towards you, leaning his body inwards. He yawned, genuinely, it seemed, but accentuated his action by stretching comically wide. His arm finds its way around your shoulder, pulling you into a half embrace. His body is warm.
You don’t complain.
I imagine each survivor gets their own cabin, featuring not much else other than a functioning bathroom and bedroom. It takes a while to get close enough for him to do so, but one day he just invites you to his cabin. Totally casually, too. You guys just hang out, doing nothing special but talking and laughing. It’s a needed respite from the horrors of the rounds.

authors notes: my maths teacher is going to kill me tomorrow because I spent probably about 2 hours writing this instead of doing my maths homework 🥰🥰 so excited!! As I said in the tags, I haven’t proofread this AT ALL and it’s literally 11:40pm so grammatical and spelling errors are very likely. If you’ve noticed one while reading let me know so I can change it!
Anyways, tysm Ivanthebee or 3cheerz4sweetrevenge for sending in this ask! Honestly it was a little bit vague about an actual fic idea 😭 but I got the message that you wanted me to write about chance. Just another thing to add onto the pile of reasons why this probably isn’t good writing, but I also have written for chance in two months! Or played forsaken!
Ugh I keep getting distracted. Anyways, seriously and genuinely thank you for sending in an ask. Despite the fact I haven’t played forsaken in ages it was a huge motivator to stay up late and write all of this. Knowing at least somebody likes my stuff is, as I said, just the most motivational thing a writer could ask for! I hope that I did Chance justice ✊
Quick other note, if I remember correctly from ages ago (two months ago when I last played) technically Mafioso isn’t in Forsaken so Chance wouldn’t see him. Something lore wise about maifioso not being there idek???? I decided to ignore that because I would be missing out on so much angst if I stuck to the canon
Wow that’s a long authors note. TLDR; thank you for the ask, I hope you enjoyed even though this isn’t proofread and I’m sleep deprived and lacking in gameplay knowledge, asks are always open! Hope you enjoyed!! ❤️
