I recently completed my second maritime archaeology advocacy training with Diving With A Purpose, and I could not be more satisfied with my experience. #DWP reminds me of what’s possible in this field when community-based organizations and institutions come together to learn from each other. Maria Franklin’s piece “Why are There so Few Black American Archaeologists” speaks about the importance of creating avenues of access for Black folks in the field. DWP is a shining example of an organization that has and continues to do the work, to create their own pathways of access within the field of maritime archaeology. #divingwithapurpose (at Key Largo, Florida)
