Going to the chapel and we’re gonna get married 💍💒🪖🌷
Iko Iko by The Dixie Cups debuted Apr 65 and peaked at number 20.
The trio had the number 11 biggest hit of 1964, Chapel of Love.
The song was titled Jock-A-Mo when it was first released in 1953 by James Crawford Sugar Boy and His Cane Cutters from New Orleans and peaked at number 23 in England. New Orleans's Dr John released it on his 1972 album Gumbo. Two more versions charted in England at the same time in 1982. Scottish singer Natasha peaked at number 10 and The Belle Stars peaked at number 35.
Did you know Dixie Cups can go bad, I had to toss a bunch of old ones still in there packaging because either the paper or the glue (or both) gave off chemical odor you could smell and taste.
