Death Proof, a.k.a., Grindhouse: Death Proof, a.k.a., Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof, a.k.a., Quentin Tarantino’s Thunder Bolt (2007)
If you're already tired of Halloween, think of the day after and watch Warren Oates in Dixie Dynamite playing at The New Beverly November 1st. I write about that movie, and Oates, and most especially *missing* him for the 15 minutes he's off-screen. I also delight in how he can make any line his own. Any line: "Why does this line work? Because when Warren Oates ends a line with “what’s for supper?” that’s a fantastic line. And why he’s needed. And why he’s missed. And why he’s missed in movies now."

Warren Oates
one of Warren Oates’ worst
Dixie Dynamite (1976)
This film is about a land owner that forces the local authorities to close down all the stills producing Moonshine, all done to make the locals lack enough money to make their mortgages. The scuzz buys up all the land, knowing Natural Gas is under it, and throws everyone off their own land. The local police Deputy named Frank (Wes Bishop) is the epitome of the mean southern police officer. Warren Oates plays Mack who is the best and only friend in the world to the main heroines of the film: Dixie (Janne Anne Johnstone) and Patsy (Kathy McHaley). Mack used to be a great dirt bike racer in his younger days. Now that their land is taken, Dixie and Patsy become wild chicks on motorcycles toting shotguns and dynamite! They are the female vigilantes of the hills! – via Grindhouse Database
