people always headcanon alien/robot/nonhuman characters (who are confused by the way of humans and behave "strangely") as autistic (which is fine) but its not nearly as satisfying(?) if the way they are is just innate to their "species"
but
the winchesters (+friends) assume that cas is Like That because hes an angel after all hes the first angel they meet must just be an angel thing
and castiel himself thinks the alienation he feels from humans is because they are humans and they are just strange to angels
but
we see how the other angels from the beginning are not like cas at all! the difference (sometimes?) shown between angels and humans (the good humans at least) is that the angels are colder (perhaps although some arent hm) but thats not what sets cas apart from humans (he is particularly gentle (at times) more so than both humans and angels)
what does set cas apart is the autism ⭐️ like obviously theres all the social cues and shit but its more than that its The Autism Essence (cant explain better rn you figure it out)
and the other angels like figure it (the Human ways?) out pretty quickly from being on earth or observing humans but despite cas learning some things and evolving over the years its still not intuitive to him and he continues to be Like That after both hundred thousands of years observing humans and over a decade of hands on close interaction so like hello
and jack also something about him idk
conclusion ? autism?? yeah
