Workspace Wednesday!

Continuation of Dragon Suoh's Armor project... After a shit day at work, I decided to busy my brain with one of my projects. I'm actually sticking to this for once woohoo! I've made a goal to bring it at Anime Boston somehow, so I have about 3 weeks! Hopefully his head gets here, and I can blush the body to match.

Today, I realized the clay armor pieces I made didn't fit well together (they shrunk while drying) and it had some gaps I needed to cover. Plus, the tiny holes I made to link them together were too small to fit anything other than regular thread through it. I decided to make a holster type thing to keep the breastplate together. Word to the wise, kids, sewing leather is hard! I did it though, after 2 hours of sewing and cutting. I think it's coming along!

I'm not too fond of the 'skirt' part but I'm going to cover the thread you see in the last picture with some more black scaled leather.

FINALLY GOT AROUND TO PAINTING THIS BREASTPLATE!!

Yesterday I glazed, painted, added gold powder on this thing and it looked totally different. I put it by the heater to dry and I woke up and some of the gold oxidyzed! It looks soo cool! And the cracks came from nowhere, I didn't even use my special crackle glaze stuff.

I also made a thigh guard but it is still WIP and the body is in parts right now, prepping for body blushing.
