Literally the first signals off the electric test harness for Kokahu. Recording is from a couple of days ago; there have been meaningful additional developments since this but this is what I'm posting now.

How many electric Irish bouzoukis are there in North America? One more than before last week.

I wanted to test a theory I had regarding piezo-based pickups, and built a small test chamber to do it. Then I got hyper-geeky and had Ardour - a linux-based DAW - plot a bunch of spectral-analysis tests on the different configurations, and made an animated graph showing the results. It actually revealed some important data that matches up pretty well with what I was hearing.

This is less a how-to and more of a data analysis report, It'll be useful if you're considering making your own piezo/crystal-based instrument pickups or microphones.

Version 3 of the Octave Mandolin DIY bridge pickup, is a big improvement, I've got the Cortado-based design for this thing picking up low end like a goddamn champ. Who needs EQ? NOT ME!

Plus there may be other applications if an hypothesis I've made proves out.
