3 unique DIY present ideas this Christmas
There has been a huge boom in crafting since March, and if you are someone that has a renewed interest in such things, then a home-made gift will give you all the flexibility to design the present just how you want it.
Back to making Christmas presents oof
Yesterday I made a matchbox-birthdaycard for my older sister who has her birthday on the 8th of February (: And this is how I used to draw hedgehogs when I was in elementary school and she always thought it was so hilarious. 😎🎁
“Secret Santa”
As fun as it is to receive a gift, I find it really special to give something to someone else. That’s why I enjoy Christmas shopping every year. Of course the artist in me also has to do something crafty because I just think something handmade is far more valuable than anything bought in a store. So when it came to signing up for Secret Santa at work this year, I decided to make something for my coworker.
Granted I know some handmade gifts aren’t always useful. For that reason I decided to make her something she could use: a denim wrapped bracelet. I used a plain wooden bangle as the base. Then I cut out strips of denim and looped them onto the bracelet. It was fairly easy to make but turned out so high-end. I think I might just make one for myself later on.
Though that wasn’t the only thing I made for her. Since it’s a tradition for me to make Christmas ornaments every year, I wanted to create one just for her. I found the idea for this ornament on Pinterest. I took two different colours of purple felt and cut them into small squares. Then I folded them to make the ruffles and glued them onto a Styrofoam ornament. That took a while to construct and I did burn my finger on the hot glue gun. But once again it turned out fabulous. To finish her gift I made a Christmas card and wrapped it in a hand-printed gift bag. I hope she’ll enjoy her Secret Santa present as much as I enjoyed making it.
