like, unironically, my favorite thing about modern au blackbonnet fics is how so many authors have very obviously taken their niche interest and molded it to fit the original ed/stede narrative, so you just have a million fics with summaries that are like, "stede is an unhinged newly divorced homosexual who has just found his passion for hermit crabs. ed, The Best Hermit Crab Breeder, is bored of how monotonous the hermit crab community has become. but MAYBE this bizarre unhinged gay can remind ed why he loved hermit crabs in the first place, and MAYBE ed can bring stede *dun dun* out of his shell 😉😉😉"
anyway i'm not joking, i love it, stories are always so much better when you can tell the author is having a good time. keep writing niche-interest!blackbonnet fics, and i will continue to devour them like a woman starved
