He sat alone at a table, staring at an empty seat, swirling afinger across the rim of his glass.

Burnt wasn’t upset.

Online dating wasn’t really his thing. It’s great to get toknow people through a screen, but most who end up getting a good look at him inperson turn tail and book it. This would be the third woman who never even satdown to try and make it work. He huffed out, a puff of smoke leaving histhroat. 

He tossed his legs around, twisting in his stool and surveying the restaurant.

His eyes landed on an equally pathetic looking Cookie, andin a sudden impulse he couldn’t control, he stood up, grabbed his glass andstrut across the way. Dust left his feet as he neared the table. He set the glassdown onto the table to warn the other Cookie of his presence, proceeding toslide into the booth across from them.

“Hey,” he started, eyes intense and determined. “I’m Burnt.You looked lonely.”
