It's been a rough week at work, and mentally for me. Could I get some Texas toast, please? I love your work btw. Haven't seen much Texas toast lately.
Yes of course! Here you go. I hope you feel better soon 🫶

Hello!! It's been a while since I shared some art with you. Over the last year I've bean learning to crochet and take a small break from painting and drawing. I've been thinking how to make a nudibranch, and been learning to make wisteria. After making some, I realized I could make a nudibranch! I had all the colors to make and variety of Spanish dancers. I wanted to share how proud I am of my latest Spanish dancer.
Orca is still my fav animal, but this seemed like a fun idea to try. Hope you're day is fintastic, and filled with fun ocean things.
Flatworms are the best because they really just look like that, that's the whole animal. Good job!!!
*dressed as Pyro in a balloonicorn hoodie hugging a small pink unicorn* mmm m mmmff!!! (Truck or treat!)
(This one's not halloweeny but it seems right up your alley. <3)
"Alright, now gimme an open G," Engineer said, watching Pyro look down at the strings on the guitar in his hands.
Pyro shuffled his feet in the gravel as he sat atop an old crate, resting the new acoustic guitar on his leg. Engineer sat beside him on a log, his own trusty guitar in hand. "Open..." he mumbled.
"Open's when you don't press on any o' the frets, remember?"
Perking up, Pyro nodded. There was so much to learn and remember all at once in this lesson, but he wasn't about to let himself get discouraged. After all, Engineer was taking time out of his work to teach him, and he was more than grateful for the Texan's time. "Yeah! Okay, so..." He strummed the G string with his pick, fingers off the frets, the warm sound humming from the instrument clear as a bell.
"That's good! Now gimme a third D."
Pyro pressed the D string just past the third fret line and strummed, the sound a little muted and flat. He huffed a little in confusion.
"It's alright, darlin'. Just remember, you want as little tension in those strings as possible, so they can vibrate as much as they can and make all that pretty sound. So you don't need to push down hard, just give 'er a little press. Your position's good, though."
Trying again with less pressure, Pyro strummed out another nice, clear note. He bounced a little, excited at his success. "Better!"
"A whole lot better," Engineer assured him with a smile. "An instrument, just like learnin' to do anythin', is all about gettin' the basics down first. The hows and whys o' how it all works. Once that's a nice solid foundation, you can build your skills on top o' it and really show off." He chuckled.
"Maybe I'll write a song for you," Pyro teased, trying out a few chords idly.
Engineer smiled his crooked smile and watched Pyro's hands work. "I'd like that, firefly."
thank u doodle for @dizzyahellfire for donating to my phone fund!!
thank u so much again <3
Pretty sure this is a trigger fish, I've never seen one this small before! It was smaller than the clown fish it was housed with.
I saw it at a place where I used to volunteer
Awww little guy! The spines sure make it look like a triggerfish.
You seem to know a lot about mermaids, are there any specific ecotypes of mermaids that enjoy pizza?
Also are there freshwater mermaids, that live in ponds, lakes or rivers? Or brackish water maybe?
Thanks in advance!
Oh no no no, you ought to refrain from giving out pizza to a mermaid! And if you must at the very least hold the cheese, mermaids do not produce lactase in their bodies and are therefore horribly incapable of digesting dairy products. Mermaids don't naturally eat cereal products either, although inland and coastal merfolk do both include plants in their diet, so the crust might be given more of a pass. But then again, there is the matter of additives... Eeehhh, with the aforementioned mermaid species, approach the topic of pizza as more of a "cats can have a little salami, as a treat" kind of situation. The bulk of a mermaid's diet must always be fish, disregarding a few select species.
Partially answered your second question with the first, freshwater mermaids do exist! Not very many of them belong in true mermaids, however. For example the nixie, which inhabits moving waters and has the fishy look, is taxonomically unrelated to oceanic mermaids! As these things tend to go, though, many true freshwater mermaid species and subspecies exist as well. They are either a result of saltwater merfolk getting trapped in newly forming lakes and being forced to adapt from there, or even more interestingly, small brackish water mermaids evolving to tolerate a new environment as they’ve explored new ground (er, water), switching from lagoon and estuary living to preferring rivers and lakes. Freshwater mermaids tend to be much smaller but there are exceptions! The mermaids of Lake Baikal and the Great Lakes of North America can grow to extremely large sizes and bear a stronger resemblance to their oceanic kin.
Thanks for the questions! Remember to always approach a mermaid carefully and only interact with them on their terms :)
I know you like sturgeon, I came across an old photo from Nov 2010 of one I got to see back in Maryland. I imagine it's probably from the Chesapeake Bay, so likely an Atlantic sturgeon
Just wanted to share this old photo I took
Oho! What a pretty sturgeon! Depending on where you saw the sturgeon (as in a farm, or wild caught, etc.) it might just still be alive.
I work in the water Dept for my health dept.
I'm a fish out of water as a koi!
Aaahhh this is simply the best Halloween costume!!! I am definitely not biased at all, don't look at my username
