European Cup winner Djimi Traore here, scoring a belter against Steaua Bucharest. 6th November 2003 was the date and it was a UEFA Cup (now Europa League, natch) second round, first leg match.

Said it before and I’ll say it again. During the Champions League Final in 2005 after yet another Traore mistake led to us going 3-0 down someone in the pub behind me stood up and sung “Djimi Traore, had your chance - fuck off home, back to France!” to depressed laughter.

Just over an hour later Traore stopped a certain goal on the line to keep us at 3-3 in the final seconds of the second half. The same person stood up and screamed “I FUCKING LOVE YOU DJIMI!!” to much laughter.

Random story but a fond memory.
