Joie Kathos

Joie Kathos, (Born Jordan Shannon) is a multifaceted recording artist from the city of Philadelphia.

As a lyricist, singer, producer, songwriter, dancer, and actress, Joie is bringing something unique to the entertainment industry by delivering messages of optimism and hope through songs that talk about her everyday struggles in life. "I have nothing to prove to anyone. I want to share my gifts with the world, and I hope to entertain and relate to people from all different backgrounds and walks of life. " -Joie

Joie is no stranger to the stage. She has been performing since the age of 3, and started her career as a full-time dancer, after receiving training in all styles including ballet, modern, jazz, tap, hip hop, and broadway. Her dance skills opened up opportunities for her to perform all around the country, but as time went on Joie grew more passionate about the art of music, so she began to work on her craft as a lyricist, writer, and producer. Shortly after, Joie began to make a name for herself, and was seen performing at various venues all around the city of Philadelphia.

Joie was the featured performer at the prestigious Howard University's 2011 Midnight Madness Event, where she wowed the audience of 4000+ people, making that her largest live performance to date. She has been a featured performer in the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade, The Annual Cherry Blossom Parade in Washington DC, and The Annual Pumpkin Festival in Blackwood, NJ. She was also seen on television shows such as Oxygen Network's The Glee Project, where she made it to the Top 30 Finalists out of 45,000 auditioners competing for a role on Glee, and Bounce TV's House of Talent PA.

Joie is nominated for Best Live Performer and Best Female Rapper.

K-Dubb

Ka-Vona “K-dubb” Pringle was born and raised in the uptown section of Philadelphia. Being a protégé of the music industry - hearing her mother sing, watching her older sister pursue a career as an R&B singer, and having other family members in the industry - K-dubb found her niche in her early years.

In elementary school, she was a member of the performing arts program where she studied acting, singing and dance. While attending high school at Parkway Northwest, she was given the name “K-dubb” by her friends and began writing R&B songs. K-dubb quickly realized her potential as an artist and lyricist.

Shortly after entering into the game, K-dubb was robbed and shot in the face, which left her mouth wired shut for months. This incident discouraged her (but only temporarily).

K-dubb decided to further her education and enrolled in Penn State University to pursue a degree in psychological and social sciences. Upon achieving her academic goals and also having a child, K-dubb realized something was still missing out of her life, and that was making music.

She quickly got back on track with making music and pursing her dream as a rap artist. K-dubb’s style is inspired by her mother, her sister, the Late Aaliyah, Missy Elliot, Lauryn Hill, Beyonce, Lil Kim and Eve. As she continues to hone her craft, K-dubb not only remembers where she’s been but she knows where she’s going.

K-dubb is nominated for Best Female Rapper.

Mel Murda

Mel Murda is a up-and-coming female artist from Philadelphia. Along with being a female artist in the male dominated rap game, she is also apart of the LGBT community.

However, do not be fooled by her anatomy, Mel Murda goes by that name because she "kills shit lyrically". Mel's rugged and dominating exterior goes well with her unapologetically raw and uncensored rap style. She has a hit single entitled “R.E.A.L (Remember Everybody Ain't Loyal )”, which can be heard in rotation on the 215 Real Exposure Show, Philly's #1 internet radio show, every Tuesday night 8-10pm.

Currently independent and repping the label Torch Holders Ent, she shares her music on SoundCloud along with videos on YouTube. Mel Murda is bringing back real bars and good original music that has been missing in the rap game! 

Mel is nominated for Best New Female Rapper. During the awards show, you can also catch Mel rapping in the ladies’ cypher.
