The MG B was introduced as a Roadster in 1962, the first of the B family. and pre-dated the GT (Coupe) by three years. Powered by a larger 1798cc BMC engine with 95bhp. Loosely based on the earlier A with redesigned body, front disc brakes a higher axle ratio plus an overdrive option. A glass fibre hardtop became available from June 1964. In late 1965 a more robust five bearing engine engine was introduced, producing slightly less urge.
