December 25. Gourd Lake. Waiting for the cops after landing. Hammond is dead. A cat emerges from the shadows.
Ace Attorney AU fic idea that diverges from DL-6.
Instead of MvK shooting Gregory, an aftershock of the Earthquake hits at the exact wrong time, causing him to stumble and shoot Yogi instead.
One can't take the fall if he kills them both, and even in his delirium he's still not about to frame a kid like Miles for a double homicide. So he settles for pinning the crime on Gregory instead and leaves.
Thus, DL-6 but Gregory survives, but also he knows he didn't do it but still lies to take the blame, believing Miles likely did it but wanting to protect him anyways, leading to his arrest and/or disgracing the Edgeworth name, which Miles will have to live with. (Fey parallel?)
(It's possible he's released like Yanni was on the insanity/self-defense plea but Manfred would 100% want to prosecute Gregory's case, even with a still-healing bullet wound, and I'm not sure he'd let Gregory off that easily if he could convince the judge otherwise. Gregory had just lost a case, after all, for whatever manufactured motive you could wring outta that)
Exploring how trading "I killed my dad" for "I killed some random guy, and my dad sacrificed (alive, not around) himself for me by lying to a courthouse" would change Miles' development.
The funny thing about the DL-6 incident theme is that anytime it comes on my playlist (when I shuffle it) I’m never prepared for it so I skip it like nooooooooooo Edgey </3
But then it gets stuck in my head all the time and I actively go listen to it and only it from my playlist
(aa1 spoilers)
“Play Dead” by Jean Dawson but make it Miles Edgeworth.
(work in progress, my tablet was dying lmao ignore the rlly rlly rough sketches I just wanted to get it down before my tablet died)
Anyone have any ideas what I should title my DL-6 fic? It’s a retelling of DL-6 from Manfred’s perspective and I’m bad at titling
