There are so many awesome book defaults out there, but there are a few Maxis textures I love dearly and don't want to replace, so here is my spin on a default!
It's a mix of textures by episims, isimchi and me + my edited maxis textures. Episims' and isimchi's textures are awesome, but they were a bit too "clean" for my taste if that make sense? So I edited them slightly, I also fixed some small mistakes on Maxis' designs. My textures are 256x256. I also included a novel icon default.
Epi_MoreBookCovers_Mod.package is not included but required, otherwise you won't see all of the books in-game. If you have any other book/novel icon defaults, you need to remove them before using mine. As usual, compressed and no mipmaps. Let me know if I messed up anywhere :-)

Cooking: what can I say, I was speechless. I don't remember it being THAT bad wtf.
Drama: I fixed some small mistakes on Maxis texture, in-game it would cut off on the left and the text on the ridge (is it called that??) wasn't centered. I didn't touch the UV-mapping, I fixed everything in the texture.
Fantasy: not quite sure I'm 100% happy with them, but eh. I love Howl's moving castle (both the movie and the book), he was my first crush when I was a child (omg I was obsessed with him) the original poster didn't make a nice cover unfortunately, but Rio Sabda's and Cynthia William's made a very pretty combo I think!
Kids: YES I add Sunny whenever I can haha. I think his pink/heart outfit kind of fit good here. He's not a monster though<3 and adventure time!!!! I loved that cartoon when I was a child/teenager but I never watched all of the seasons. Some months ago I decided to watch it again, in order. I'm currently on S6 and obsessed!!! I love it so so much. I want that vinyl set so bad...
Mystery: I decided to keep Maxis pages on them (1 + 3), since they are a bit "older-looking". It didn't feel right using new, fresh pages for them. I'm also not sure if I'm 100% happy with the mystery books, it feels a bit repetetive (1+2) and then the third.. has flowers lol?? But I thought it could be, a more.. neutral? Mystery? Idk. I might edit them in the future.
Romance: it was very fun to edit Maxis' original texture. I had some kind of teenage-romance book when I was young who looked nearly identical to my second texture hahaha (I don't think that book was gay though, but mine is!!!). I got kind of obsessed with those sims, I made them just for this but I might actually play with them later on. The last texture is actually from a ts3 book texture, but I edited it (quite a lot). One thing I've learned from this is that I shouldn't take up a career in book design.
Fast Lane Stuff Pack Default Replacement Hair Edit for TAM-EM

Details:
Default replacement for teen to elder males. You must have the expansion pack installed for these to work as they only replace what exists in your game! Place in your overrides folder to install. :)
Replaces meshes (all LODs) (I have @ifcasims’s default retextures installed and they’re neat!) Any default replacement retextures will still work.
Compressorized | Custom Thumbnails (using the previews above – you can customize or delete these if you’d like with s3pe 🙃)
Notes:
Has the same polycounts as the original.
Any default replacements or default recategorization mods will not work with these mods! Anything that edits the CASP resources, basically. Please reach out if you have any questions!

these are my first defaults ever so please let me know of any issues if you run into them. these have been tested though so they should be fine :) downloads and info under the cut!
aftopmotojacket, aftopmotjacket_ep7, and aftopmotojacket_ep8 all replaced with lucilla's conversion of EP17 Blouse Keyhole.
truthfully i wasn't paying too much attention to the orders of the colors when doing this one so apologies if you don't enjoy the color replacements >~<
aftopcrewneckcollarshirt (what a mouthful!) replaced with mog's recolors of lucilla's conversion of SP64 CK006 Layered Sweater (equal mouthful!).
i actually did pay attention to the colors on this one! so blue replaces blue and pink replaces pink, etc. no exact matches to the other colors but i tried to keep it close, only exception being orange in which case i just replaced it with something equally bright. enjoy!
So i LOVE @episims' maxis-match correlated werewolf default, but the one thing I wanted was sharper teeth. So I took it upon myself to frankenstein a sharp-teethed werewolf default using @crispsandkerosene's pointy teeth masks
You can only have one default at a time, so take out any other werewolf defaults you may have before installing this! Also, you need BOTH package files in the .zip file for it to work properly!
Welcome to my neighborhood! I'm so excited to share my first contribution to the sims community with you. Once I saw this hair, I just kept thinking how cute it would look with the maids uniform ☺️

Texture-only default replacement of afBodyOvercoatPants, from Nightlife. Alternatively, a custom version of the 3 recolors shown above. Notes and download link are under the cut.
NOTES:
For the overcoat and turtleneck, I used @goatskickin's top-only version as a base. The green one was taken directly from one of her recolors, edited to add the bottom part of the outfit and the shadows under the sleeves, while the other 2 are my own.
Because this only replaces the textures, it's fully compatible with any mesh-only edits. I highly recommend this one by @pforestsims, also shown in the pictures above. He also enabled the outfit for outerwear, which makes more sense for the new textures.
