isn't it always. some nights the world was at peace and everything was just a little bit alright and other nights the only thing that kept anyone going was the promise of a new day on the horizon. so when @dlunae calls him at an hour where they should both be asleep, dick picks it up on the second ring. donna was the strongest woman he knew, a presence so warm and steady that it was hard to think about where he ( and the titans as a whole ) would be without her. but she was just as human as the rest of them, just as susceptible to nights that were too long and too dark as anyone else. he can hear he hesitation before she even begins, and it brings a smile to his lips as he sits up proper.

they have been arguing over this fact for the last ten minutes. he was fucking furious, this expressed in way lines creased forehead and the way tension racked his body and made his posture incredible. shoulders roll before he closed the distance between them, jaw set in a rough line.

maybe it was harsh, cruel to say the least. but god, this woman worke dhis fucking nerves. eyes are sparkling with intensity, jaw ticked with the irritation that ebbed off him palpable waves. he gripped her jaw and brought her close as head ducked down, lips finding hers in one of the most passionate and heated kisses he has ever shared -- not that he will ever touch base on why that is.

Fickle were the Gods of Olympus, often times little rhyme or reason came along swiftly with their actions. Though they were ardent followers of their whims at times, there would certainly be moments when Hippolyta would speak out of turn in their regard. A slip up, certainly, but mostly coming from the mind that there was much being hidden still from them.

Amber eyes with their divine gilded edges turn to the horizon and the sea as it began to swallow the sun from the sky. well, this was going about as well as anyone would expect. besides dick himself, apparently. in his defense, he didn't really think that @dlunae's jumpsuit would rip when he put it on ! or, more accurately, he totally thought it would stretch to accommodate their difference in size. back in the day, they would totally be able to wear each other's costumes. of course, that was before puberty hit, but still.

It was the dead of night by the time he had gotten home. All the lights were off as that door was closed and locked up. He knew the kids were fast asleep and expected Donna would be too. Respectful of the hour, he removed his boots to leave by the door, went to wash his hands at the sink with a soft overhead light on, then opened the fridge to rummage through it for a water bottle. A few grapes were popped into his mouth, chewed and swallowed before the door was shut so his focus could go on twisting the bottle top off and taking a swig. Throat worked to take the liquid down beyond the middle of that plastic container. Just as he was lowering it from his lips, arms slid around his middle, causing him to jump a little at the sudden touch from the darkness. It was the scent of her that he had memorized for years which had shoulders relax and a breath taken. "Shit. About jumped outta my skin, baby." One hand rose up to rest over her own and hold it against his chest where that heart was calming down from the brief startle. Quickly, he turned around in her arms, bottle tossed to the counter behind them where it landed upright so he was hands free. "You should be asleep." He teasingly chided her as those callous hands trailed down that body, feeling the curves he had craved for days. Down, down before gripping that beautiful ass and lifting her up to prop on the counter across from them. It put Donna right at the perfect level for a kiss. One she denied him at first, and leaned back. "Hey. I've been a good boy." What did he get? The sound of a soft, hushed laugh that went right to his groin and a …blown kiss? Hell naw. Leaning in, he tried to claim one but was denied with a hand to his face. "Please, only a true love's kiss from a goddess can save me!" In the dim glow of a night light for Lian, their attempts to be quiet giggles and chuckles could be heard. Donna, being the kindest woman he had ever known, had mercy on him when those hands cupped his cheeks and pulled him in for a firm kiss. A sigh of utter contentment was given at her touch.
