It was another sleepless night, first with work on his mind and a fret for deadlines, next with his neighbor's exceeding noise level that had Oliver banging on the wall with profanity after the clock struck midnight. Normally he wasn't the type to care, but with an early morning and his head pressed between the pillows to drown out the volume through the thin walls, he cracked. The next day showed signs of the previous nights beneath his eyes, dark circles staring back at him in the mirror as he readied himself for his shift. By the time he made it to the hallway later that evening, it felt like he was dragging his feet along with him, cement tied to his ankles as he reached his door only to see another man adjacent to him headed in his direction. He shut his eyes, hoping that when he'd open them the stranger would pass and not be the next door neighbor that was to blame for the yawn he stifled.
