Moving onto the next book. Once again about North Korea. I’ve read seven books on the DPRK. I’ll read any I pick up as I find it such an interesting place. That and I enjoy having a good knowledge of a subject that often comes up in discussions and debates. This book focuses on the politics and history of the DPRK and it’s relations with nations such as America, the South, Japan and China. Previous books have been by detectors and people who have visited the North on either diplomatic visits or one of the tours available.

Next on our @dmz_korea tour was a stop at nearby Dora Observatory for some once-in-a-lifetime views of North Korea to the left and South Korea to the right. Dora Observatory is locates on the South Korean side of the 38th Parallel, on top of Dorasan (Mount Dora) and looks across the Demilitarized Zone and is the part of South Korea closest to the North. We were able to catch a rare glimpse of the reclusive state through binoculars from the 304-square-foot building. We could See the North Korean propaganda village in the DMZ and admire a remnant of the nation's prosperous past. We took a half day tour with lunch to the @dmz_korea and I highly recommend for any history enthusiast or students. We booked our tour via @klooktravel and were picked up at our hotel by an English speaking guide to join others in an air conditioned bus. Our second stop was the Third Tunnel. Discovered in 1978, the Third Tunnel is one of the four tunnels found underneath the DMZ, connecting North and South Korea. The Third Tunnel, or the Third Tunnel of Aggression, could move 30,000 soldiers through the tunnel in one hour. The tunnel served as an invasive route into the South. This tunnel provides a vivid imagery of the conflict between the North and the South. Our first stop was Imjingak Park which holds significant sentimental and symbolic meaning. This park commemorates families separated due to the division of the North and South. The park signifies the hope that one day unification would come.
