Death Note Headcanons: Shinigami
- Shinigami can’t have children.
- However, they will occasionally form family groups in order to achieve a goal.
- The food in the Shinigami realm is terrible, because Shinigami are too lazy to develop the skills to become good cooks and they are also too lazy to take advantage of the very rich soil.
- Sometimes Shinigami will get married and divorced out of boredom. Every Shinigami has been married at some point due to this.
- Animals and children can sense them.
- People with the Shinigami eyes can see them.
- Some people are born with the ability to see spirits, meaning some people can see Shinigami without the eyes or touching a death note. It’s incredibly rare though.
- Yokai and other spirits exist in the world of Death Note but are unimportant to the plot.
- Badgers, Foxes, Wasps, Cats and Corvids can actually see Shinigami and will occasionally attack them, which led to some very terrifying/confusing moments for Light, Misa, and Mello.
- Ryuk is deathly afraid of ravens and claims they want to eat him.
- Shinigami kill humans but they can’t make them move on.
- Sometimes human ghosts will follow and harass Shinigami in the Shinigami Realm. This is annoying but there’s not a lot that can be done about it.
- L’s ghost followed Ryuk around for several years after his death. Because Rem was dead and Ryuk was the next best thing.
- Sidoh and Ryuk are actually fairly young Shinigami. Rem and Gelus were quite a bit older.
- Shinigami do eventually die.
