Audition for Dance Comedy Show!
DANCE.COMEDY.SHOW is a fun dancing sketch show about race and gender -think Chappelle Show meets Beyonce live- created by Denae "D'Nay" Hannah (bio below)
Audition Info: Sunday, December 1, 2013 12pm-5pm • Dancers: 12-1:30pm • Actors/Improvisers/Comics: 2-5pm by appointment Callbacks Wednesday, December 4, 2013 7pm-10pm

Special consideration will be given to performers who can both act and dance. Dancing will include contemporary, pop, twerk, vogue, and hip hop. Actors should be comfortable moving. Performers of all races and ethnicities are encouraged to apply.
Dance Roles: 6 female contemporary/pop/twerk dancers (any race/ethnicity) 1 male vogue dancer / actor (any race/ethnicity) 1 male hip hop dancer (popping, locking, ticking - African/African American) Acting Roles: 2 males (any race/ethnicity) 1 white female 1 white white male (will play both straight and gay characters) 3 black males (African/African American/bi-racial) 5 black females (African/African American/bi-racial)
Rehearsals:
Generally Sunday afternoons 12-3pm and Wednesday evenings in 7-10pm starting Dec 4 in downtown Brooklyn. See bit.ly/dcomshow for detailed schedule.

IMPORTANT: Selected performers MUST be able to attend all rehearsals. Rehearsal is a collaborative process and everyone needs to be in the room so we can build together. If you can't attend ALL rehearsals, please do not submit an application - seriously.

Denae "D'Nay" Hannah a native of Fort Worth, Texas, is a dance comedian, social entrepreneur, and founder & CEO of Denae Dance Theatre / DNA Comedy. D’Nay seeks to spark conversations on culture through the development of performance pieces that employ satire and the physical collision of pop culture with high art. She received her B.A. in Drama from Stanford University, M.F.A. in Performance & Choreography from Florida State University and currently studies comedy on scholarship at Upright Citizens Brigade. Ms. Hannah is the former Associate Director of Programs & Development of Urban Bush Women and is a former teacher of Simonson dance technique at Dance New Amsterdam. She is on the executive committee of the DanceNYC Junior Committee, is president of Stanford in Entertainment NYC and also serves on the board of Sweet Enuff, a youth outreach organization committed to diabetes and obesity prevention through dancing and health coaching. Ms. Hannah was a 2012 EMERGENYC artist with New York University’s Hemispheric Institute for Performance & Politics, a 2012-2013 Commissioned Artist at Stanford University, a 2013 TEDxStanford performer, and currently is a 2013-2014 Director/Choreographer Observership Fellow for the Stage Directors & Choreographers Foundation.
