Entry 1: Day 12

Miyuki had never considered himself to be a Christmas-y person. Most years he had spent the holidays by himself as his father was busy keeping the roof over their head. He didn‘t really have fond memories of that time and while others were in love with the magic of it all, for him it turned just into another couple weeks, although busier than usual.
You, however, were the opposite of him and while he loved to tease you for it, it never actually bothered him. The bounce you got in your step with December 1st never failed to put a smile on his face, the glee in your eyes when it was time to decorate or how you dragged him out to dance in the first snow of the year - no matter where you were or that the ‘snow‘ was really just icy rain and melted as soon as it touched the ground - but as cringey and lame he claimed they were, they were so incredibly you that he could just love them.
So it felt quite strange to known that it was already the 12th of December and the place you shared was barely any different than when in July or March. At first, he had chalked it up to you being busy as he would mostly see you for the two hours you had after work but even on your off days, there was no Christmas spirit. No music, no shows, not even a small LED snowman.
Miyuki dropped his bag on the floor, which only made you raise your hand and wave at him without looking while keeping your eyes on the tv for a random show, until he grabbed your hands and yanked you off the couch.
Not listening to you, he pulled you towards the kitchen, dumping the first baking books he saw into your arms and opening the cupboard and already searching for ingredients.
“You know I was actually trying to watch that.“
“No, you weren‘t.“ Miyuki replied without missing a beat and you opened your mouth to retort something at his audacity but ended up closing it again when you remembered that this was still very tame behavior for him.
“What are you doing, anyway?“
“We‘re making Christmas cookies.“
You scoffed. Miyuki turned to you, sure he had misheard but no, you had actually scoffed at something he knew to be a favorite activity of yours.
“Okay, Mr Grinch, what happened to my Christmas obsessed partner? Cause this,“ he pointed up and down your figure, “ain‘t it“
Miyuki simply laughed, in a mean way, “You wanna say that to your twenty pinboards all with a different color theme? Or the whiteboards in your work room, scribbled full of design ideas on how to decorate the living room? Or that the christmas market vendors know you by name?“
“Okay,“ you exclaimed, “I have a problem. I get it.“
“Not a problem. You love Christmas and I wanna know what changed.“
He crossed his arms in front of his chest, a more serious look on his face, which made you sigh.
“Nothing really. Just...I‘ve never worked in retail before and we started stocking up for Christmas back in August. Kinda charring to soak your clothes with sweat just from breathing and be surrounded by snowflakes and dancing Santa Clauses. And the closer we get to the holidays, the nastier people get. Guess I‘m just not in the mood.“
“I get that but I still think you shouldn‘t let others rain on things that make you happy.“
Another sigh and a small smile appeared on your lips as you grabbed for your apron. “Just one batch of cookies. Simple decorations, if any. Can‘t have you ruin my kitchen.“
Miyuki gasped in offense, “excuse you, this is my kitchen.“
