A film about someone who inherits the dining room table from their great grandma. At a party, someone leans on it and it suddenly snaps open to reveal an unfinished tabletop game - maps, character sheets, dice, notes ...
A Notebook set at the top reveals the truth - great grandma used to play a very long-running game, they were close to finishing but never met up for the last session because Life(tm) got in the way. It’s the protagonist’s quest to finish that game. At All Costs.
(Optional: One of the old players is still alive in some retirement home. But as any good mentor does, they die before they can reveal the last bit of their wisdom. It seems like all is lost.)
