I drew myself a little treat for my holiday break... my DnD character’s instrument!  It’s a Tlanztahre, a three stringed traditional dark elf instrument that has a deep spiritual significance to them.

It'sthe price of a reasonable fast food coffee and he put a lot of love into it and came up with some pretty creative monster abilities and Crafting ideas for the players who go "what can I harvest from it" after a kill.

This was a fun way to explore how much variety in beetles there are out there and I tried to make the designs vary widely and match their elemental type! :) If you can tell the Real life beetle they were based on let me know.

A. Single Mother Shepherdess

Elven mother raised her children steadily, their sheep herd was moderately lucrative and they were comfortable and happy

Elven mother was a priest of Melora and abandoned the family to serve a higher position in the temple; believed her family was restraining her worship

Older sister is an accomplished cartographer, traveling the world

Younger brother just recently set out on tour with his band

The navy taught her to access reserves of anger she didn’t know she had

She became an adventurer because she found the naval structure stifling and secretly yearns to find the mother who abandoned her.

B. Fisherman Father

Human father is a poor fisherman, very loving

Human mother was an adventurer, wrongly convicted and imprisoned for a crime she didn’t commit when her children were young

Younger brother was largely raised by Erin; when she could, she began to bartend to help support the family

The navy presented an opportunity to more steadily support her family; she learned to channel the icy anger that had manifested throughout the injustice of her childhood into a threatening battle weapon.

She became an adventurer to learn more about her mother’s past and hopefully eventually clear her name.

C. Chaotic Twin

Elven mother was an adventurer and a ranger in the Great War (~400 years ago)

Human mother is a poet who specializes in war ballads

Twin half-elven sister was chaotic and outgoing compared to Erin’s more orderly and shy nature; her twin grew up to be a jeweler.

The navy helped her find a place in a barbarian unit; she wanted to protect the innocent as she sometimes protected her sister

She became an adventurer when she grew disillusioned with the navy, realizing it had its own corruptions

D. Middle Child Syndrome

Half-elven father is a shipwright who longs to be a politician; Erin’s relationship with him is strained, as he favors his son

Drow mother runs a local nursery and maintains the home, Erin helped

Older brother is unpleasant, entitled, and manipulative; Erin dispises him

Twin younger sisters are a handful; Erin largely helped to raise them

The navy helped her harness and redirect her anger

She became an adventurer because she felt trapped by the structure of the military
