Oh honey I'm in love with Izzy, they sound like a riot! Tell me more about their relationship with divinity, what's their deity like and how exasperated are they with Izzy's life choices?
Thank you for letting me yap 🥺 even if tumblr ate the... too long first version 🙈 if I ever get to play them I'm thinking they're a little bit Laura Bailey's Jester and Peter Dinklage's Tyrion 🤭
And for deity I haven't thought too much about it yet but I'm leaning a bit toward Eilistraee 🤔 I knows she's predominantly a drow god but being the chaotic good goddess of freedom and moonlight is quite fitting 😁 (and Selûne has kinda oversaturated the market for twilight domain 🤭). And her journey through melancholy and sadness, choosing to see the joy in life, amd having a soft spot for outcasts... she's pretty much perfect so I think I'm gonna lock that in! I think she would delight in the little chaos bundle that is Izzy 🥰 it would be awesome in a campaign if she did pay a bit of attention to them now and then, maybe sending dreams or appearing but that would obviously depend on the game and dm. I'm kinda basing it, at least for now and at the start of a game, that Izzy doesn't really realise that all the time they've spent growing up talking to the stars that she's been listening and answering, if not in words then in feeling. They've never stepped foot in a temple so their connection is more innate and based on feeling than prayer and worship. Part of Izzy leaving home and wandering is to discover more about where their magic comes from, learning that they're actually a cleric, so that would be a fun little ongoing side quest I feel 😊
Crow Black A The Cycle Of Abuse
I'm always disappointed that Crow Black didn't get much of an appearance during the campaign, but I do very much like her character. Her lore is a bit complicated in that she is also multiple other characters and reincarnations. The key point to her lore is that she is cursed to be reborn over and over, always to die by drowning. The idea behind that, according to her creator, was that without intervention, she would continually return to her abuser - Despite the fact that Crow is continually trying to run from him and spite him. Its the fact that in one way or another, she is refusing to what happened to her go.
That's not to say that one is invalid or wrong for being angry over their abuse, or in someway they need to forgive their abuser and pretend their abuse didn't happen. Its more the point that whether you choose to let your abuse keep you helpless or you choose to chase revenge, both are unhealthy choices. In Crow's case, the first half of her reincarnations genuinely wanted to help her abuser, The Lost Prince, get better.
Crow's first incarnation, Ophelia Nix, was genuinely in love with the Prince and truly believed she could save him despite the harm he was causing her and others. When she finally saw she couldn't save someone who did not want to be saved, that was when The Prince cursed them both to be forever reborn and at odds. From that point onwards, Crow is continually trying to escape the curse but refuses to let go of either hope that The Prince would improve or the hate she has for him. Because of this, she succumbs to the curse every time.
By her 100th reincarnation, Crow is entirely consumed by her hate for The Prince and it makes her reckless, even even ends up abandoning anyone that doesn't jump to villainize the Prince immediately. It isn't that The Prince isn't a villain, he very much is, but anyone that tries to help Crow move on is put on par with him.
Magik in Trolldininia works best when both parties have a strong belief in it, so the more Crow tries to fight again what she believes is some irremovable problem, the more true that becomes. It would take an extremely long time, but freeing herself is entirely possible for Crow, but to her its more 'just' and 'right' to continue hating The Prince and spiting him. Her identity is now built around revenge, and without that hate she has no idea who she is or how to live.
Crow's creator uses Crow's story as a sort of mantra to herself. She could very easily live like Crow, forever dedicating herself to someone that hurt her, on way or another, or she could let go. Acknowledge what happened to her, that it wasn't her fault and it did change who she is, but she has the power to change herself too. Its a bit of a pity that that was never fully explored in the campaign.

does your character have any tattoos? if so, please describe them
🤭🤭 so!
The first tattoo was acquired at the tender age of 15. They snuck out to see a travelling circus and convinced one of the performers to tattoo the phases of the moon, from crescent to full and back, on the right side of their head, they now keep that side shaved to display it. They love it. Their mother despises it.
From wrist to shoulder on their left arm they have spiralling blue clouds that stand out against their dusky purple skin. They were done by a man who claimed to be a sorcerer and told the tattoos would move depending on the weather and glow under the light of the moon. Izzy is starting to think the man was just crazy. This was the tattoo that sparked their twin sisters jealousy and fueled their need for their own tattoos. Izzy finds this hilarious.
On their right arm are a series of dwarven runes they got from a drunken mercenary who claimed they were runes of protection but wouldn't or couldn't explain further after their seventh mug of whiskey. Izzy has asked scholars, soldiers and even princes what the runes are meant to protect them from. No one has a clue.
Along their left ribs is an excerpt of a poem in elvish, inked one night by a former lover they no longer speak the name of. The poem was about finding love in the spaces between stars. Izzy keeps it as a reminder and a warning.
On the right side of their chest and side are beautiful dark crimson flowers, an 18th birthday present from their brother Veren. He did the work himself in a single long sitting before retreating back to his rooftop studio. It is the most precious thing Izzy has.
On their left thigh is a tressym, wings spread and tail floofed out. Izzy has no recollection of getting this tattoo beyond a vague memory of a masquerade ball, too many drinks, a fountain and a noble woman's dress. The hangover was extraordinary and, they think, worth it.
Over their heart is a line work tarot card, specifically the fool. Izzy got this after the one and only reading they ever did for themselves revealed their fate, and they see it as a reminder not to take life too seriously. Or at all. If one were to look closely they would see the fool has small horns and a barely visible tail. Izzy swears it's not meant to be them.
The last (for now) tattoo is on their back on the left shoulder. It's the Venture family crest, a raven perched on a crown of thorns, a defiant statement that they belong to the family whether they are wanted or not. They delight in seeing the vein in their fathers forehead throb when he sees it.
dnd character questions:
is there someone they can't ever say "no" to?
what's something they'd rather stick both hands into a sphere of annihilation than touch?
would they rather fight 1 hippocamp-sized flumph, or 100 flumph-sized hippocampi?
what's their favorite sound?
Their brother Veren. He's an artist with agoraphobia, but he let's Izzy into his studio uninvited and is the closest family member they have.
Do their sisters count? 😂
1 big ol flumph 😆 though if they were to think about it they believe they could probably take out at least half of the 100 🤭
Light rain falling onto rooftop tiles 😌 it reminds them of the countless nights they snuck out onto the manor roof to watch the stars and felt real peace
Me a few months+ ago: Yay I might play dnd for first time in the summer, I could use the one off guy I cosplayed for a Mediaval con just to try it out since he fits the vibe
Makes a whole new species and culture for him
Follow up questions!
How good/ bad at they at lying? Do they have any tells?
What's their favorite creature and/ or their ideal pet?
What makes them jump up on the sofa in fright?
What is something that's a big blind spot in their thinking?
Ooooh these are good ones! 😊
They are fairly good at telling lies, but despite how well they can use their tail almost like a third hand, it tends to give them away lashing back and forth when lying.
Blink-dogs 🤭 little fluffy teleporting balls of chaos, Izzy sees a lot of themselves in them
Hmm... okay this one was tricky 😅 they wouldn't admit it, but their brother Caelum. If even a quarter of the rumours about him are true they have good reason to be terrified, and the smile he wears to charm the cities upper crust never reaches his eyes.
They have done only one tarot reading for themselves and after laying the same cards four times despite extensive shuffling and even taking those cards out of the deck found their fate is to die spectacularly, either horrifically or heroically. Knowing this, they tend to not take dangerous situations seriously, almost seeing their future as a guaranteed safety net. Also, all wine tastes the same no matter how often they're told otherwise.
