Time to rank the classes and give reasons!!!!
1. Wizard - to anyone who plays DnD are you surprised? Wizard has some of the best summons and control spells in the game, and ritual casting is so strong. It also has some really good subclasses.
2. Warlock - this point is tied with Druid and sorc. I personally give it to warlock because of the utility having short rest spell slots provides. It has a worse spell list than the other two but more than makes up for it with its pact slots. A lot of people I’ve been around have viewed pact slots as a downside but I only see that as the case in easier encounter days and if it’s easier then warlock still functions well.
3. Druid - Druid has an amazing and unique spell list if you don’t allow background spells they include, goodberry, spike growth, plant growth conjure animals so on so fourth, conjure animals alone makes Druid one of the best damage dealers capeable of out damaging some level 20 builds at level 5. Extremely good control but beat out by the wizard.
4. Sorcerer - it’s a discount wizard. Still better than most other classes. Metamagic is a small boon.
5. Bard - bard struggles hard before level 5 and even afterwards it has a worse spell list than the other casters it’s next powerspike is level 10 where you fix this weakness by not being a bard. Magical secrets lets you learn 2 spells that aren’t bard spells. Overall weaker than most but gets some good spells to be not worthless.
6. Cleric - clerics have the worst spell list. They have no autowin spells, they need to go into melee to use their best level 3 spell. The other spells are just outclassed by other options
7. Ranger - oft called the weakest class in dnd 5 the Ranger is the best weapon user, it has high damage, some of the Druids spell list and a unique play style
8. Artificer - called the weakest half caster it’s actually right in the middle. It has a quite offensive suite and is well balanced. Pipes of haunting is quite a drug.
9. Paladin - oooohhhh this one is controversial paladin is its level 6 and 7 features, its aura encourages huddling but you are better off spreading out in combat you loose out on 8 or 9 levels of spellcasting your spell list is the cleric list which is one of the worst but it doesn’t have any of the good spells.
10 monk - monk is only good if you are a level 3 or 4 build and you take shadow monk and you use a ranged weapon. That’s the only reason this is good if you play as intended and melee you are the worst class.
11 fighter - most damage martial. Still not good though.
12 rogue - only reason this is here is because it has the opportunity to range over melee. It however does low damage even for a martial
13 barbarian - melee only, mediocre damage, what’s more to hate.
This is my rating you are allowed to disagree but I would need evidence not just “a paladin one shot a boss in my game” or something when I do the DnD class deep dives I’ll go even more into my placements. Thank you for reading.
