Lakeith Stanfield and Dree Hemingway’s Idyllic Getaway Turns Dark. Logan Sandler's feature-length debut will have a limited release on March 31.
IndieWire just exclusively released the trailer for a film I’ve gotten to see at early screenings and I wanted to share because I think you guys might enjoy this. Daniella Nowitz, one of my bestest friends in the entire world, was the Cinematographer for this film that premiered and Tribeca last year and will have a limited release next month. It stars Keith Stanfield from FX’s “Atlanta”. Dani is - in my opinion - the most talented cinematographer working right now and she also happens to be this really short, really funny, jewish woman. We’ve been close friends and have been collaborating for a very long time. She was the cinematographer for one of the pilots I shot for a cable network last year and the cinematographer for everything I’m shooting this year. She’s my go to gal and my creative partner in crime. I’ve never met someone who I can connect with artistically on this level. She makes me a better director and a better artist. If I have a say, I would never let anyone else shoot anything I direct. She is fuckign increible and the sort of talent that the industry needs to highlight. If you love film, you will absolutely adore her work so if you see it in theaters near you, please do go see it.
When IndieWire reviewed the film at Tribeca last year this is what they said about Dani’s cinematography in Live Cargo: “The film is shot by Daniella Nowitz with a tangibly textured black-and-white cinematography and is so lushly gorgeous you want to eat it.”
