i think it would be a clear, net cultural improvement if parents stopped being weird about letting boys and girls be friends with each other and have sleepovers etc etc. yes this means “stop forcing heterosexual coupling narratives on toddlers” but it doesn’t end at that. and i don’t think the problem ends at “men without sisters don’t see women as human!” either. i genuinely think some afab people on this website are in need of some normie cishet male friends. they’re not wholly to blame because the weird (edit: why did i say weird? normal. expected.) girls only bestie group thing is really entrenched in a lot of people’s socialization, which doesn’t mean it’s inherent or inevitable or equally persistent in every individual. but i guess it’s familiar and easy. every day i have to see weird narcissistic takes about “girlhood” and what it means in comparison to “boyhood”.
