im honestly so glad they didn't bring a romantic angle between dong eun and do young. i see many people wishing they would've been paired. did they have chemistry? HELL YES. but i genuinely feel like there's no way that would've worked.
dong eun's priority was to imprison yeon jin and remove all the supporting people in her life. to bring justice to everyone she's abused. she didn't want to take yeon jins place. woman was prepared to die after she got her revenge. there was no future anyway. i never got the vibes from her that she was attracted to do young, it was so transactional, or rather calculating.
do young did get infatuated by her, because she was so different from the women he has to regularly deal with, or he was taught to be around. but that's abt it, he didn't immediately start crushing on her and that's realistic. like think 2 steps into the future, how could it go on? would he fuck up the relationship he has with his wife and daughter? would he let go of his reputation and all the rich people shenanigans to be with someone who simply beat him at go? no. when he seeks her out at the convenience store, it's also not because he wants to strike up an affair. he just knows something is up. he's smart and he could sense it.
and if dong eun got together with this guy, how are they gonna explain their relationship to the kid? would dong eun really be able to move on from all the abuse by constantly being a replacement for her abuser? would she be able to take her architecture classes and wear short sleeved clothes if the child of the perpetrator of her scars is always around? would do young be okay with the mental stress this would cause to his child?
chemistry doesn't mean anything in front of all these questions.
