What motivates me to clean, do my laundry and take care of errands, is the fact that decreasing the tangible chaos in my life almost always helps me to feel more in control about the intangible chaos in my head. Whenever I feel like I'm spiraling, I look around my space and see if there's anything concrete that I can take care of. And then, at the end of the day, when I lie down to rest and feel the fresh linen pressing against my skin, I feel the promise of a brand new dawn. And suddenly the thought of a new dewy morning fills me with hope instead of dread.
