Your post about having a relaxed relationship with your deities is spot on! I also prefer to see mine as friends with mutual respect.
-snaps fingers- There is no shame in having an intimate friendship with your deity(ies) of choice. Just because one has a close and personal connection with those they are devoted to, does not mean we stop seeing them as gods.
The gods WANT to interact with humans, they WANT us to invite them in. They love normality. It doesn’t have to be a big ritual every time like SOME PEOPLE make it out to be.
More relaxed forms of worship are no less cherished by the gods. They WANT to join you for breakfast, for coffee, while you play videogames, while you read, when you listen to music.
They want to have a meaningful relationship with you beyond just calling upon them with offerings.
To think they don’t appreciate the company of their followers beyond intense worship, ritual, and offerings is ignorant, and perhaps people who believe this maybe need to rethink what being devoted really is.
