It Gets Better
Hello and thanks to all my new followers. I am so humbled. I wish I posted more, but this is one of my side Tumblrs so I don't check it as often.
Anyway, just wanted to give a quick update. It's been a few months with no more cognitive behavioral therapy and I'm doing pretty good overall.
I mean I'm still picking, but it's not as frenzied as it once was. My picking shifts very often. Sometimes I concentrate on one area (legs, arms, back, butt or scalp). That gives me the illusion that I'm doing better, but usually I'm just shifting to a new area.
Like laying waste to farmland and moving onto greener pastures, I guess.
Currently I'm working on my scalp. But I am working even harder to heal my scalp at the same time.
But just wanted to let people know that it does get better. With time, therapy and other interventions, like having fidget toys, band-aids and lots more.
I think about it less and I pick less. But I still pick.
Using band-aids has become an easy way to avoid picking, especially some new spots. If I can't get to it, I won't pick. Oh, and I cut my nails often so I can't use them for picking.
I also try not to get into the habit of "scanning" my body, which almost always leads to picking. Oh, and wearing clothes around the house also helps.
Anyway, that's it for now. Just wanted to give out some more words of wisdom, and let you know that yes, it get's better.
