Though he’s absolutely exhausted, Tony slips his hand into Delphine’s own when she lays down next to him. It’s been a long day, or a long couple of weeks depending on how you looked at it. But he was happy, and he hoped that Delphine was too. “I just want her to have a better childhood than I did, you know?” he said, pulling his wife a little closer. “Then both of us. But I think we’re doing a pretty damn good job. I just don’t know if we’re ever going to sleep again.”

As Tony added pepperoni to the pot on the stove, he heard a knock at his door. “Shit,” he said, stirring the pot a few times before running over to his front door. With a wooden spoon still in hand, he opened the door with a smile. “Hey,” he said, stepping aside so Delphine could enter. “I...kind of already started dinner. But I haven’t burnt the place down yet!” he said with a smile. She’d be proud of him for that at least, right? “It’s, like, this pasta pizza bake thing. It sounds super weird, and I might have come up with it when I was high, but it tastes good. Scout’s honor,” he said, holding up the three fingers on his free hand.

Tony hates seeing her so scared, and that’s the reason he’s asked her to spend the night. It isn’t for his gain, not at all. Though he wouldn’t be opposed to spending the night with Delphine, he just wants her to feel safe. And obviously, her own apartment isn’t going to provide that safety for her. The damage done to her property has also shattered her sense of security and he can see it in her eyes. He doesn’t want to leave her side, and when she grabs hold of his hand, he realizes he doesn’t have to. She wants him there, and that’s comforting in itself. “I’ll even sleep on the couch, if you want. You can have the whole bed to yourself,” he says with a shrug. “We can clean the rest up tomorrow. But we both need some rest.” He squeezes her hand, hoping she knows he’ll do whatever he can to make her feel safe again. There’s just no telling what that will entail just yet.

She was expecting to find Cosima at the end of the trail, cold and blue. A night out here in the snow would do it, espe- cially in her condition. Charlotte too, un- fortunately, but sometimes collateral damage does occur. Instead, Rachel stumbled upon a much different find. Their connection, however, could be no coincidence.
Rachel spared Delphine a greeting. She spared her the phony manners.
“Where are they?”
