I'm in a difficult situation though because this week will be only be my fourth week on this job and I don't know whether to throw in the towel now or hang around to see if it gets any better

the manager is horrible and from what I've heard she's always been that way so I don't think that's going to change any time soon (I actually witnessed her the other day yelling at some of the staff in front of the children. it rattled me so much I cried when I got home)

I feel like too much is being expected of me too soon and I'm being given jobs that I'm not certain I can do to the best of my abilities and at this point I know the senior leadership team well enough to have this constant paranoia that someone's gonna chew me out for getting something wrong (which has happened on multiple occasions already)

idk. for a while I was thinking I might give it up until november and if it's still shitty by then I'll hand in my notice so I can leave as the christmas holiday begins. maybe I should stick to that idea.

right?? I mean I'm pretty sure it's only there as a deterrent to stop parents trying to poach the nursery's staff and/or to stop their staff from leaving

but the whole thing just sounds kind of sinister? paired with the fact that all through my contract are frankly unsettling statements about how lateness/sickness/inability to travel to work due to adverse weather conditions/'non-attendance of any kind cannot be tolerated even for genuine reasons' (yes I put that in quote marks because that's literally what it says)

it's like they'd rather threaten you into being an effective and loyal member of staff rather than through, y'know, making you feel valued both as an individual and as part of the team

<3 it's only really a few people that I would be seriously uncomfortable with finding out I'm not straight and actually once I've graduated (in ten days????? my god) and left uni for good I can probably unfriend a couple of those people anyway
