A fresh face, and batch of brownies.

A mysterious young girl would wander town regularly, often seen delivering her home cooked goods to the folks of town. From time to time she'd simply go for short walks in the park, but that was all people ever saw of her, often locking herself in her house, spending hours upon hours cooking meal after meal. One day she decided to try and deliver food to a new house, so she walked to the door knocked and waited.

Orange: 6 facts about my home town

1) We had two bowling alleys but couldn’t keep a 2 screen movie theatre afloat. It was really frustrating when I was a kid.

2) For prom, halfway through the dance, everyone would be lined up with their dates, leave the dance, announced, and promenade around the block to be seen by the town. The local paper and half the town would show up. I don’t know if they still do it, but they still did in the mid-90s, when I was in high school.

3) The high school mascot was part of a wheel. Not the whole wheel, but part of the wheel.

4) the town was originally colloquially known as Hangtown. I think you can guess why. 

5) Our high school technically was only 3 stories, but had 27 different levels, half floors, etc., and staircases that went nowhere, because of years of additions and construction. 

6) It is surrounded on all sides by corn fields.

2) I am really easily drawn into enthusiasms, whether intellectual or fannish

1) My last cat was part Tigger. Also, she came when called and played Tag, wherein Tag involved body-checking. She seemed to have no concept that I was a lot bigger than her. It’s been three years and I still miss her. 

2) My cookies exist because of poor quality control on sanding sugar, resulting in a bad color batch that reminded me of costume colors. I still have that bottle of sanding sugar even though I’ve never used it because sanding sugar is crap for the kind of decorating I do.

What would you blog about at the tender age of 13?

Oh man, four words: THE HERALDS OF VALDEMAR (okay, and the follow up words Vanyel Ashkevron plus a little Tannim and Buffy on the side)

I seriously cannot overstate how obsessed I was with those books (and honestly, everything written by Mercedes Lackey) when I was 13. I didn’t have a blog at the time (I’m not sure anyone did, really?), but I WAS on such important mailing lists as the Vanyel Ashkevron Fanclub. 

Actually, for just a little bit of an idea of how very obsessed I was, one just has to look at my current username: I call myself Jissa because it’s what I’ve been using online since I was 13, and I took the name at the time because it happens to be the name of Vanyel’s daughter (actually, her name is Jisa, but I’m dyslexic so I didn’t notice this for YEARS after I started calling myself Jissa. Oops!)

But yeah, if 13-year-old Jissa had had a blog you can pretty much bet it would have been FULL of stuff about Vanyel. Bad poetry (I had a whole series about how the ice had been going to engulf his soul AND THEN ‘LENDEL CAME AND SAVED HIM FROM THIS. Followed by the series about his loneliness post ‘Lendel), bad doodles, meta discussion—THE WORKS. Actually no fic about Vanyel though (although that is PRECISELY the year to have my epic fic about the Sidhe from the Tannim books getting stranded on an island … I honestly can’t remember much else about this fic except that it took multiple mead composition notebooks, included singing crabs to give the exposition, and I’m pretty somehow had Morwen and her cats visit from Pat Wrede’s books. Oh yes).

And every Tuesday, there would have been a Buffy liveblog. I was just getting into Buffy at the time (that was my first year watching it!), but I shipped Buffy/Angel hardcore, and can only imagine what my liveblog would have looked like during Surprise/Innocence (although I can’t imagine “ROCKET LAUNCHER!!!!!!!!!!!!” wouldn’t have appeared).

Plus, there would have been a twice yearly DISCUSSION of The Mists of Avalon. Because that was DEEP, and I kept trying to do this with real life people, but they didn’t seem to appreciate it like I did. ;)

One place that makes me happy and why: Walking down the streets of Rome on my way to the Academy (or on my way to home from the Academy) makes me happy. Travelling in general, even if going very far or very near from home makes me happy.

How many blankets I sleep under: Two blankets in the winter and a blanket in the summer (sometimes none if it's too hot)

Favorite beverage: Tea (iced and hot) and coffee

The last movie i watched in the cinema was: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Three things I can’t live without: my PC, my sketchbooks and my pencil case

Something I plan on learning: I'll learn to engrave anything on everything with any possible tool. And I'll learn to print what I engraved on different surfaces. It's basically what I'm studying.

A piece of advice for all my followers: Do whatever you like, I guess? Don't let yourself get influenced by other people's judgements. No one is entitled to judge your choices except yourself.

I just want to say that everything you're currently freaking out over (y'know the sebstan) I too find myself dissolving into a puddle of goo over the same thing. It's just nice knowing someone I follow is living in the same pit of despair. Have a lovely weekend.

I ABOUT LOST MY MIND. Um, okay, so, full disclosure, I'm not watching AoS until the season is over, so maybe my WTF are you insane face is not fully warranted, but apparently there's some hint that she has some Kree connection somehow, so his idea was that that was how Marvel was going to work her in and I was like. DUDE NO. 

Keep in mind, this bounced off of a larger discussion of me grousing about IM3 and how SHIELD magically didn't care about a terrorist threatening the POTUS for weeks and blowing shit up and also going after an avenger, NBD, and he then said that was his big beef with Cap 2, but that they were trying to do more integration with AoS, and I thiiiink maybe I made a snarky comment about the lack of female titles, and THEN HE WENT THERE. I don't remember exactly how we got there, though.

I did ask if he was at all aware of online fandom and how incredibly unpopular that move would be considering a) how popular Carol Danvers is and how important her narrative is to her character and b) how polarizing Skye seems to be. Apparently, no, he does no online anything, and doesn't seem really aware of Carol much at all, and so didn't see why it would be that big of a deal >_> He's also really sure we're heading for Civil War after the infinity gems and I'm like duuuuude. Meanwhile the other two clerks were just staring at us for like 25 minutes.
