When Joshua notices he's alone in the infirmary, he decides it's time to subtly leave this place. It's not that he doesn't want to rest at all, but Clive needs him, and he refuses to let his brother do something reckless. At least, not without him. They are working together now, and it will be this way until they're officially done with Ultima.

He stands and heads to the door, but at the second he does, Tarja enters. And he can see she's suspecting something already. He offers her a polite smile. "I just... I thought a walk would be good for me," he explains, doing his best to sound calm and in control. "I am not going far."

🏷️Do they give their partners cute nicknames?

Clive tends to stick more towards pet names more than cute nicknames. Honey, Darling, Love, etc etc. If he can puzzle together a cute nickname for a partner, he will, but pet names are more his speed.

👫Do they display affection in public? What about in private?

Clive isn't against PDA, but he isn't huge on it either. He'll gladly hold hands, hug, speak affectionately, and even share a kiss, but more than that in public makes him uncomfortable. If a partner were to sit in his lap in a public space, Clive would quickly get flustered.

In private, however, Clive adores affection. Any chance to shower his partner with love, he does so. Gentle touches here and there, massages, trailing kisses, playing with their hair. One might even assume Clive to be clingy with how he is in private.

The call of the good doctor always got his attention, Clive straightening from the map he had been bent over. Tarja always got his attention, for anything she needed was an immediate need for the Hideaway. They would be in poor shape indeed if their doctor didn't have all that she needed. He wasn't expecting to get a minor lecture on ensuring that his brother took the medicine he was supposed to since he wouldn't stay abed, but he took it in stride, nodding his head in acknowledgment. Though, that last bit was a jab he didn't need. It would seem that both of the Rosfield boys were terrible about taking care of themselves.

"Of course, Tarja." There was nothing else he could answer, even giving the good doctor a slight smile to help smooth this over. "I'll see that my brother is at least reminded he has medicine to take." Clive would, out of concern for Joshua, but he wouldn't be trying to stuff the medicine down his throat for him! "I'll be sure to take my own medicine, you have my word." He countered that last jab with a bit of humor, offering a smile that would have made Cid proud.

Clive would probably not take his medicine.

Tarja suddenly begins making airship noises, moving the spoon with a dollop of porridge dramatically through the air. "And here comes the airship! Are you ready for landing, Captain Rosfield?"

Joshua raises an eyebrow, then blinks a few times. What... What is Tarja doing, exactly ? His eyes go from the spoon to Tarja, and from Tarja to the spoon. What are these strange noises she's doing ? And more important: why is she doing this ?

"Captain... Captain Rosfield ?" he repeats with confusion in his eyes. He has received many titles in his life, but this one is unexpected. "Lady Tarja... You do not have to feed me, you know ?" But she seems to enjoy this way too much. Maybe he shouldn't ruin that.

A warm smile appears on Mid's lips at the sight of the blend. She already knows it's coming from Tarja, no one else would have made such a preparation, but she still reads her words. Tarja is always so kind to everyone, ready to take care of all of them. Mid is not that bad at taking care of herself, but yes, she stresses herself out sometimes. She can't help herself. But right now, she wants to focus on all the positive things in her life. And there's a lot. She's grateful.

She takes a sip. Well, this one is very good! She brings it with her and walks toward the infirmary to meet her friend. She deposits her cup for a moment, then gently hugs Tarja. "Thank you, Tarja. For this special potion you made for me, but also for everything you're doing here." She lets go of her and offers her a warm smile. "You're a good friend! Never doubt it!"

Joshua can recognize a hard worker when he sees one, and he knows Tarja is also one. She's not just working hard to make sure her patients are doing alright; she really is devoted to the people of the Hideaway, and maybe he's projecting, but he feels like she could overwork herself if she had many people to take care of, and he doesn't want that to happen. He wishes he could help everyone, always, so of course, he wishes he could help her.

He's not truly annoyed by her when she wants to make sure he took his medicine; it's more him wishing he didn't have to take these because, as the Phoenix, he thinks he should be stronger. That being said, it also means he's more likely to truly befriend her post-canon because he won't need his medicine anymore haha 😂

Accepting that she has feelings for someone is a long process for Mid; she has a strong sense of denial. So when she's still in that phase, it's impossible, of course. However, once she accepts her feelings, then yes, she would confess her feelings first. Once she accepts her feelings, she believes it's okay to be vulnerable, even if it scares her in some ways, too.

The thing is that if she has accepted her feelings, she doesn't want to waste them and to keep them inside. Anyway, Mid would probably never accept her feelings for someone if she doesn't think he feels the same. She's very observant of the little clues haha!
