Recipe and Alien Methods
Recipes are often used in the family home to create interesting meals for the family - there are so many family meals to prepare 365 days a year.
As an avid cook and kitchen alchemist I often surprise the family with a new recipe – to interest both the family and myself in the daily ritual of family dinners. Whilst looking at recipe books, and thinking of my artwork for conceptual process I was taken by a family favourite recipe.
Using Alien Methods and also being uncreative I created the following artwork.
FAVOURITE FAMILY RECIPE
SERVES 4
500g PATIENCE, CUT IN HALF
2 T OF DREAMS
125 ml HOPE
80 ml HOLIDAYS
2 T TIME
4 x 150g ROUTINE
SMALL HANDFUL OF LAUGHS
A PINCH OF LOVE
A DASH OF IMPORTANCE
Preheat the oven to 200°C. Put the Patience in a large baking tray, drizzle with the dreams. Roast for 25 minutes, turning once, until golden and crispy.
Meanwhile, stir together the Hope, Holidays and Time.
Heat a large frying pan, cook the Routine for 3 minutes, then turn over and cook for another minute. Remove from the pan and leave to rest for 3 minutes.
Spoon the Patience onto plates, dollop with the Hope dressing and scatter with Laughs and Love. Top with Routine and add a dash of Importance.
“For a happier version, repeat often”
