Mitsubishi HSX concept which was put into production as the Mitsubishi GTO / 3000GT / Dodge Stealth
The HSX is a prototype car for sale, also known as the next generation Stallion. Its ultra-wide body, 1,880mm in width, incorporates technology from the HSR-II, a pre-development model.
First of all, the engine mounted on the front is a V6 3000cc DOHC 24-valve twin turbo twin intercooler engine with the same specifications as the HSR-II, called the 6G72 type. The power output has not been disclosed, but it is estimated to be around 300.
It drives all four wheels with a 4WD system with a center differential and viscous coupling (VCU). In addition, active systems (4WD, 4WS, 4IS, 4ABS) have also been put into practical use in the HSX, making it a high-performance car worthy of a new era of sports cars. The electronically controlled 4WS is sensitive to vehicle speed and steering force.
As for the remaining Active 4, the 4IS has MacPherson struts in the front and double wishbones in the rear.
In addition, the HSX is fitted with ventilated disc brakes on the front and rear wheels (four-pot aluminum calipers on the front) and ultra-flat 245/50R17 tires, improving the important basic performance of a car - running, turning and stopping.
On the other hand, the aerodynamic control technology that is a feature of the HSR-II has also been adopted for the HSX, and although it is not as bold as the concept car, the chin spoiler and rear spoiler are adjustable, and are called an active aero system.
