Let me first begin with this is not a police abuse case. Both officers were rookies and not properly trained, both have testified to this and it has resulted in the firing of their academy trainer. Not only that, it was an accident. He should not, i repeat should not have pulled the trigger, but it happened out of reaction. His gunt WAS NOT pointed at the young man. The bullet hit him after richotteing off the wall. So with this being said, I agree with the judges ruling and even with such a ruling, the conviction is going to hang over him for life as well as the guilt he must feel. He was a rookie and he made a mistake. It has nothing to do with police power or the fact that the judge was Asian. Not everything is about race or abuse of power. But the question here that people should be focusing on has not come up. Why were too, unproperly trained (the academy never taught them cpr) on such a patrol together? Take into fact that they were indeed both new to the force with no supervisor as well as the area they were assigned to and what they must've heard. Why were they not screened for knowledge of cpr before starting foot patrol? And most of all what are the police doung to fix these problems?
