Grief.  

It’s going to kick your ass.  It’s like someone stabbed you, creating this giant rift into your body, your soul, your life; and there is not enough gauze or stitches or medical procedures to close it.  You have to deal with it.  You have to learn how to live your life with this gigantic hole inside your soul.  It’s never really going to go away.  However, you can survive it.  You can learn to maneuver around it. 

It doesn’t get easier or better, you just learn how to live with it.
